Website Design

Below are video tours and pictures of the websites I have designed, with a little bit of information about the clients as well as the sites.

Dapur Mariae

This family run Malaysian food company is who I based my end of year project for my masters on, and once I finished in September they asked if I would be willing to continue helping them.

I agreed and at first started helping them with their blog, giving advice for content, structure to the blogs and proof reading/editing, read more on this here. After this proved successful I began advising them on social media marketing, read more on this here

Their website was created on Vistaprint which meant when they then asked for help on their site there was little I could do due to Vistaprint being very limited and difficult to work on. As their blog was on their site this meant that it was also extremely difficult to track the blog and site analytics accurately.

I advised them to move site hosts to Wix as I would be able to created a more visually appealing and used friendly site which was more on point with their brand. They agreed and during lockdown I have been focusing on creating a new site for them. The new site needed to stay true to their family orientated, informal feel. Pictured above and right is the site so far, both the desktop and mobile versions, it's nearly finished and hopefully will be ready to go live as soon as the lockdown starts to lift.

FayLinn

This website was a little tricky to build as the products sold by the client are unique and I was unfamiliar with her audience, however after a phone consultation and an in person meeting I felt I had a reasonable understanding of the client, their products, and their audience.

I made a couple of wire frames to figure out what pages the client wanted, the layout of these pages and the content each page would contain. Once the layout of the website was completed I selected the best pictures, and included many keywords and niche phrases on the site in order to make it SEO friendly.

This sites function was to act as a gallery for the client's work as she rarely sells finished products and normally works on commissions. Building this site took some trial and error, as the client had a very clear vision of what she wanted, however I was able to maintain a balance between adhering to this vision and utilising my knowledge of website design to achieve the best result. For example the client wanted a much busier website background but I advised that a simpler background would be more effective and not draw attention away from the work.  Although I felt some elements of the site could be improved upon to give a more formal, professional feel, that was not what the client wanted and working as a team they felt the finished product, with Italic font and a fairytale book feel, was on point with the brand and what her customers would enjoy.

Ultimately the client was extremely happy with the end result, and after the site going live they insisted I put my name and email address in the footer of the site (as shown below), she wanted to give me credit and make me reachable if anyone was to see her site and wanted a similar one built for them. The website can be found here.
